Monica Dowling

Dr Dowling is a Senior Lecturer in Applied Social Studies and Academic Director of the Msc/DipSW courses at Royal Holloway, University of London, England. She has published extensively in the area of measurement of quality in social care, social service users' and carers' experiences of social care and poverty, inequality, social exclusion and social work. Her publications include 'Families with children with disabilities - Inequalities and the Social Model' in Disability and Society vol 16, no1, Jan 2001and 'Measuring Quality in Community Care' in Research Policy and Planning forthcoming 2002. Her current research interests in the social care field include the evaluation of new government programmes for children in need (Quality Protects, On Track and Sure Start) and research with academic colleagues in China regarding ethnic migration, globalisation and the adoption of Chinese children from China to the UK.
